An upscale cottage is adapted to the highs and lows of a dramatic site.

The old house was beyond salvaging. The goal was a new house for this family of six, essential yet dynamic and homey. Most of all, it had to be well suited and configured for the beautiful lakeside site they had come to love for the past 15 years.

We worked to diminish the risks of the owner acting partially as his own general contractor. This was done with complete delineation of detail.

The design challenge was clear — create a structure, to support their lifestyle, onto a fairly steep slope along the shore, allowing the immense space of the lake to influence its rooms and the design. The main living spaces are an open arrangement of kitchen, dining, and living room. The largest proportions of glass are set here, offering spectucular views daily.

The lake is a part of the soul of the spaces.
